While the cascading, colorful houses of Positano are iconic, the true magic of the Amalfi Coast often lies in its quieter corners. Escape the crowds and discover villages like Praiano, nestled between Positano and Amalfi. It offers the same stunning sunsets but with a more relaxed, local vibe. Don’t miss the beautiful church of San Gennaro with its majolica-tiled dome.
Further along the coast, you’ll find the tiny fishing village of Cetara, famous for its anchovy production. It’s a slice of authentic Italian life, with fishing boats bobbing in the harbor and excellent, no-frills seafood restaurants. For a taste of history, visit Vietri sul Mare, the ceramics capital of the region. The streets are a kaleidoscope of colorful tiles, and you can pick up a beautiful, handcrafted souvenir to take home.
For the adventurous, the “Path of the Gods” (Sentiero degli Dei) is a spectacular hike that offers unparalleled views of the coastline. Starting in the hilltop town of Agerola, it winds its way down towards the sea, offering a perspective most tourists never get to see.
