Finding Zen: The Serenity of Japanese Gardens

A Japanese garden is a work of art. Every element – from rocks and water to plants and lanterns – is carefully placed to create a harmonious and serene environment. There are several styles, including “karesansui” (dry landscape gardens) like the famous one at Ryōan-ji in Kyoto, which use sand and rocks to represent water and mountains. Strolling gardens, or “kaiyushiki-teien,” are designed to be experienced by walking along a path that reveals a series of carefully composed scenes. Visiting a garden is a chance to slow down, appreciate nature, and find a moment of peace.
